Technical Requirements - Other Considerations

  •  Jane requires local administrator access in order to install the application and the various components. Windows Authentication is optional, in which case the server will need to be a member of a domain.
  •  We are not aware of any conflicts with other systems or applications. We advise that if the application is installed in a shared environment then you produce an inventory and send this over for review.
  •  There are no special security requirements for hosting Jane. However we recommend configuring SSL (and basic authentication) where required, and prohibiting any traffic other than ICMP, SSL and RDP.
  •  The Jane application folders should be backed up regularly since they may contain some database access information (encrypted).
  •  The databases should be backed up regularly either using a SQL maintenance plan, or by using 3rd party software with the appropriate connector.
  •  SQL Server authentication is used. A local SQL account is created that assumes the DBO role of the Jane database.
  •  Jane uses a variety of database connectivity options depending on configuration. As a bare minimum Jane must be able to communicate with the SQL Server instance hosting the Jane database.
