System Requirements - Smart Client (PC)

For end users, the client screen configurations require a minimum screen resolution of 800x600. Some enquiry screens, aimed at ‘Power Users’, provide the ability to display further information by utilising the screen resolution of 1024x768.

Apple Mac clients are supported using the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac or the Citrix Metaframe product using the Sharepoint Portal Server (if running Internet Explorer – see http://sharepoint.microsoft.com)

The Smart Client deployment provides the following features:

Integrates with any MAPI compliant mail system including Microsoft Outlook.

Integrates with Microsoft desktop productivity tools such as Word and Excel through standard DDE and OLE.

Produce reports and/or screen shots to any printer that is supported by the Microsoft Windows operating system.

In practice, users tend to run email services and other office products in conjunction with the Jane HR system; to cater for the additional requirements the following is suggested:

Intel-compatible P4 PC with 2.3Ghz CPU. 1-2Gb RAM.

Disk requirements are dependent on modules implemented but a maximum of 2GB free space should be allowed for.
