Technical Requirements

The purpose of this information is to provide an overview of the technical architecture required for the Jane HR Systems. It is aimed at providing a technical overview of deploying these products and is predominantly technical in nature and provides the necessary information concerning the introduction of this software into an existing technical environment.

The Jane HR Software provides user access to features and functions through a number of deployment options including:

Smart Client, where the software programs are installed and run on a Windows-based PC or through thin client software.

Thin Client, where the client uses technologies such as Windows Terminal Services or Citrix Presentation Server/XenApp, or their web deployment equivalents.

Web Client, through the Internet Explorer Web browser.

The core application has been designed and developed in association with its well established customer base and is consequently scalable and extensible, essential ingredients for enterprise solutions.

The application is designed to an n-tier architecture using the Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) and the Microsoft .NET framework. The n-tier architecture comprises the following tiers:

Presentation tier

Business object tier

Data object tier

The benefit of utilising the n-tier architecture is mainly for the preservation of the business rules of the system. This means that access to the underlying information is only available to those users who have been granted access from within the application.
